Chicago Blackhawks Corey Crawford Stadium Series Mask

By Sean Fitzgerald

The Chicago Blackhawks will be taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1st at Soldier Field. This will be the last Stadium Series game for the NHL this season. This is the NHL’s way of welcoming fans back from the Olympic break. If this game is anything like the Winter Classic and other Stadium Series games, it should be a huge success for the NHL.

Each team will be wearing specialized jerseys during the game. In previous Stadium Series games goalies have had specialized items made. Henrik Lundqvist had special pads made. Martin Brodeur, Jonathan Quick, and Jonas Hiller had a special masks made. Corey Crawford of the Blackhawks will join the club. Crawford had a special mask made for the Stadium Series game. The mask is pictured below and is very cool in my opinion.

This will be Crawford’s first appearance in a outdoor NHL game. Crawford was not a member of the Blackhawks during the 2009 Winter Classic game. Nikolai Khabibulin and Cristobal Huet were the goalies for the Blackhawks at that time and both appeared in the game.

Backup goalie Antti Raanta also will be wearing a new mask for the Stadium Series game. Raanta’s mask will be a tribute to former Blackhawks goalie Ed Belfour.

The Blackhawks will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1st at 7:00pm Central Time. The game can be seen on NBC.
