The Stadium Series game at Soldier Field was a great experience for everyone involved, well almost everyone. Marian Hossa left during the first period with an apparent upper body injury. Hossa did not return to the game. Today Coach Quenneviile announced that Hossa will be out 2-3 with weeks with an upper body injury. This was to be expected after the hit sustained by  Hossa.

Hossa who is 35 years old only played in 5:06 of the game Saturday night. Hossa had been one of the ten Blackhawks who played in the Olympics in Sochi. People must have wondered how the 35 year old Hossa would hold up after the Olympics. The Olympics combined with the short offseason was a recipe for a Hossa injury.People seem to forget the Blackhawks had the shortest offseason in the NHL. During that offseason Hossa was dealing a back injury he sustained during the Stanley Cup playoffs.  Hossa has been not been as durable with the Blackhawks as in his other NHL stops. Hossa has only played over 70 regular season games once. He played 81 games in 2011-12.

With Hossa being out the Blackhawks have a roster spot open. The roster spot will not be filled by Brandon Pirri. Pirri was shipped to Florida for draft picks last night. The speculation is that Pierre-Marc Bouchard could be brought up to fill his spot. I am hoping they bring up the RED HOT Jeremy Morin.

Whoever the Blackhawks bring up expect the team not to suffer, we still have Jonathon Toews, Patrick Kane, and Patrick Sharp at forward.
