25: New York Islanders 23-31-8: The New York Islanders have had a terrible season this year. They lost their star in John Tavares during the Olympics. At the trade deadline the Islanders had one of the biggest chips in Thomas Vanek.  The Islanders overplayed their hand and GOT VERY LITTLE for Thomas Vanek.  The Islanders received a c onditional pick and prospect from the Canadiens.  The Islanders Gm Garth Snow then sent Andrew MacDonald to the Flyers for two picks and a prospect.

Trade deadline LOSER

24. Nashville Predators 26-28-10: The Nashville Predators were surprisingly active at the trade deadline.  The Predators bid farewell to their franchise player in David Legwand. Legwand was drafted by the Predators in 1998. He was the first pick in the expansion draft. The Preds sent Legwand to the Red Wings for Patrick Eaves and Calle Jarnkrok. A third round pick was also included from Detroit to Nashville.  The Preds also sent Devan Dubynk to the Candiens. This is the third stop for Dubynk this season. That means the goalie tandem will be Pekka Rinne and Carter Hutton for the rest of the season.

Trade deadline Neutral

23: Ottawa Senators  28-25-11: The Senators were active at the trade deadline. Did you expect anything less from GM Brian Murray? Ales Hemsky was acquired from Edmonton for draft picks. They also waived Cory Conacher. Conacher was acquired from Tampa Bay last season. The Senators traded Ben Bishop for Conacher. Conacher was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Lightning. The Senators did not make a big move but made a couple of small moves.

Trade deadline Neutral

22: New Jersey Devils 28-24-13: The Devils were marred in trade rumors. Would they trade Martin Brodeur? Would Jaromir Jagr be traded? The answer to both those questions was NO. Instead the Devils acquired Tuomo Ruutu from the Carolina Hurricanes. The Devils sent The Devils also received some good news this week. Their penalty from the Ilya Kovalchuk contract has been amended. Essentially the Devils will get their 30th pick in the 2014 draft and part of their penalty has been reduced.

Trade deadline Neutral

21. Carolina Hurricanes 27-28-9: The Hurricanes were active at the trade deadline. The Hurricanes traded Ruutu to the Devils for Andrei Loktionov and a conditional third round pick in 2017. With goalies being moved left and right at the deadline, it was surprising that the Canes did not move Cam Ward.
