20. Phoenix Coyotes 29-24-11: The Coyotes have been desperate for a scorer this season. The Coyotes addressed that issue by acquiring Martin Erat from the Washington Capitals. Included in the deal was forward John Mitchell. The Coyotes sent Chris Brown, Rostislav Klesla and a fourth round pick. Klesla was then traded to the Sabres. Klesla decided to sign out the rest of the year then report to the Sabres. The Coyotes also acquired draft picks from the Blackhawks for David Rundblad.

Trade Deadline Winner

19. Winnipeg Jets 30-28-7: The Winnipeg Jets could have used an additional forward to help overcome the injury to Mark Scheifele. Instead the Jets stood pat and it could cost them the playoffs.

Trade Deadline LOSER

18. Columbus Blue Jackets 33-26-5: The Blues Jackets needed some defensive help and they had a forward who just didn’t fit in. A deal with the Los Angles Kings was a match made in heaven. The Blue Jackets acquired Nick Shultz, Matt Frattin, Dana Tyrell, Matt Taormina, and second and third round pick. They sent Marian Gaborik, a fifth round pick, Jonathan Marchessault, and Dalton Smith. They big piece in this deal was Gaborik. Gaborik did not fit in Columbus and should help LA.

Trade Deadline Winner

17. Washington Capitals 30-25-10: The Washington Capitals were active the trade deadline and need to be in my mind. The Capitals are a better team after the deadline. The Capitals got Jaroslav Halak from the Buffalo Sabres. This is the biggest move for the Caps. They addressed the revolving door at the goalie position. They also acquired Dustin Penner, Chris Brown, and 2015 third and fourth round picks. The Caps did fail to add a defenseman but they got a goalie. In my mind this is a win for the Capitals.

Trade Deadline Winner

16. The Dallas Stars 31-23-10: The Stars are fringe playoff team and decided not to buy but instead to sell. They traded Dan Ellis for Tim Thomas. They traded injured Stephane Robidas to the Ducks for a fourth round pick. Thomas will be useful considering Kari Lehtonen just suffered an injury.
