15. Detroit Red wings 29-21-13: The Red Wings have not given up on their season despite all of their injuries. The Wings went on and acquired David Legwand from the Nashville Predators.  In the deal for Legwand the Wings sent Nashville Patrick Eaves, Jarnkork, and a third round pick.  The Wings needed forward help because of the injury to Henrik Zetterberg.

Trade Deadline Winner

14. The Philadelphia Flyers 33-24-7: The Flyers acquired Andrew MacDonald from the Islanders for Andrej Meszaros , two picks, and Matt Mangene. This move is viewed as a lateral move for the Flyers, maybe even a trade for the sake of a trade.  For the Flyers sake let’s hope this move pans out.

13.  NY Rangers 34-26-4: The Rangers have been trying to resign their Captain Ryan Callahan for weeks. Callahan’s price was too high for the Rangers. The Rangers were then given a gift. Steve Yzsermann did not pick Martin St. Louis for Team Canada. After the Olympics St. Louis wanted out of Tampa Bay and only wanted to go to the Rangers. The pieces aligned and the trade was made. The Rangers got St. Louis and Raphel Diaz for Callahan, a conditional second round pick and a 2015 first and fifth round pick. The Rangers will get an offensive boast from St. Louis, but might miss Callahan’s leadership. St. Louis is the better player.

Trade Deadline Winner

12. Minnesota Wild 34-22-7: The Wild had to response to the moves made by the Blues in the Central Division. The Wild addressed needs they had. They needed another goalie to backup Darcy Kuemper and if Josh Harding could not return. The Wild got Ilya Bryzgalov for a draft pick to bring a veteran presence to the net.  The Wild also added a top six scorer in Matt Moulson. The Wild had a good deadline.

Trade Deadline Winner

11. Los Angeles Kings 36-22-6: The Kings were in desperate need of a scorer, that is why they acquired Marian Gaborik. This is going to be a good fit for Gaborik who does not have to be the “man”. The Kings have Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter, and Mike Richards to aid Gaborik. This was a much needed move for the Kings.
