The Chicago Blackhawks announced a signing today, and with it the Blackhawks currently have 48 players under contract.  The Blackhawks signed Defensive Prospect Dillon Fournier to a 3 year entry level deal.

Fournier was the 2nd round pick 48th overall in the 2012 draft. The Blackhawks first round pick in the draft was the steal of the draft in Teuvo Teravainen. 2012 draft was pretty good one for the Blackhawks with prospect Vincent Hinostroza in the 6th round and Rockford Ice Hog Garrett Ross in the 4th round.

Fournier is 19 years old and has recently played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Fournier has scored 31 goals and 77 assists in 4 seasons, and now he will be with the Blackhawks organization for the next three seasons.

At the post trade deadline post conference the Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman said they intended on signing Stephen Johns and Kevin Hayes who are both still playing in their senior seasons in college.  Johns is the name that is really interesting for Blackhawks fans. Johns has the potential to be a blue liner in Chicago for a long time, but the future is not as certain for Fournier yet it is certain that he will be in the Blackhawks organization for the next 3 years.
