They don’t call it a sprint to the finish for nothing! For the first time since before the Olympic break the Blackhawks will take to the ice 4 times in a week with the final 3 games at home in the United Center.

The week starts out on the road in the City of Brotherly Love with a tough road test against the Philadelphia Flyers.  The Flyers are a serious hot or cold team with a hot streak in them right now after sweeping a home and home weekend with the Pittsburgh Penguins.  I’m in Philly visiting my brother and it’s funny to hear the local radio still talking about how Ray Emery turned their season around with his fight.  The Hawks win or lose will always have good memories from this building thanks to #88!

The headline game of the week will be Wednesday night at the United Center when the St. Louis Blues come to town with their league leading record.  For most of the season the Blackhawks were in the lead of the Central Division but the Blues had these precious games in hand, well now they just lead the Central and the NHL.  It’s interesting that a team that has won the President’s trophy and failed in the playoffs has come out and said that this is their goal.  The Hawks could really use a win to at least get in their head that defeat by the Hawks come playoff time is a real deal.

On Friday night the Carolina Hurricanes make their only appearance in the Windy City. The Blackhawks won in Raleigh in October in a shootout and will be looking to make this Hurricane Warning just a Tropical Depression. Carolina is on the outside looking in on the playoffs so they have little time to get hot or their golf clubs will be calling them sooner than later.

The week ends with a Sunday night visit and rematch with the Nashville Predators.  The Preds shocked the Hawks on Friday night and then got smoked by the Blues.  The Hawks will be looking to end the week on a high note with division win and after this past week there is no way they will overlook the Predators this time!
