There are reports that Teuvo Teravainen is travelling to Chicago today in what seems a very long process since Sunday’s loss in his Finnish playoffs.

Stan Bowman seems like a guy that has everything planned out and could possibly have a timeline in his office when everything should take place on a daily basis.  What happened last night at the United Center couldn’t have possibly have been on that timeline.  When Patrick Kane got his leg caught under Brendan Morrow what could have been the best laid plan from Stan for Teuvo Teravainen.

Now comes word that Kane’s regular season is probably over but should be back for the playoffs. The Hawks organization were playing down the arrival and status of their top prospect but now it seems with a player whose skill set is to be of that of Patrick Kane may need to come in and replace Kane to end the year. Talk about being thrown into the fire and an entire city’s expectations getting turned way higher that they would have been during Stan’s original plan of quietly seeing what he had and seeing if he could be the #2 center for the playoffs.  Well of course it wouldn’t have been quiet but it sure would have simmered expectations at least a bit.

Nobody on the roster could fill in for Kane’s skates his resume speaks volumes, but now is the time and place for the Teuvo era to begin and it probably isn’t the fairest time frame, but players and history don’t look at salary caps or injuries, they just go out and do what they do on their chosen playing field of their sport.  Teuvo is a special talent so now is the time to show off these talent even if it is under the shadow of Kane’s injury.

Thankfully it isn’t an ACL just a three-week injury so let’s really see what Teuvo has before the playoffs are on top of us! This wasn’t in Stan’s masterplan, but this is why you stock the team with highly skilled prospects and talent so when the plan goes sideways there are always options! Teuvo is on his way today to Chicago which is pretty exciting!

What do you think? Too much too soon?
