This is the penultimate regular season game for the Hawks, and a fitting way to end the season after facing – and beating – this team in the banner-raising ceremony last October. The Caps have had a rough season and are all but out of the playoff picture entirely. The last 7 games have been rough as well, having only won two – but ironically, those wins have come against some of the league’s top teams (3-2 vs. the Ducks in regulation, 3-2 vs. the Sharks in the shootout). What is even more concerning for the Hawks is that 4 of those last 7 games have gone to a shootout – something that has become a “dirty word” for fans this season. Yesterday, however, the Caps were absolutely shellacked by Dallas, losing 5-0. Let’s hope our boys take a quick glance up at the rafters before puck drop to bring back the aura of that ceremony and the game that followed, as a positive way to bookend what has been a bit of a roller-coaster season.

(And last but not least…)
