With less the playoffs rapidly approaching, seeding is still being decided. The Bruins secured the overall number 1 seed in the East. We decided this week to ask the pressing questions facing every team in the NHL.
Now onto to the rankings:
30. The Buffalo Sabres 21-47-9: This draft could be huge for the rebuilding of the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres have their own first round pick, they could get the Islanders first round pick from the Thomas Vanek trade and they could also get the Blues first round pick for Ryan Miller. The Vanek pick depends on the Islander finish and the Miller pick depends on the Blue reaching the Western Conference finals. Pressing question: How long will the rebuild take?
29: Edmonton Oilers 27-42-9: The Oilers are playing out a string and looking toward the future. Their AHL team the OKC Barons have signed Connor Jones and Kellen Jones to amateur tryout contracts and standard contracts for the 2014-15 season. Kellen was a draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 draft. Pressing question: Will their rebuild work?
28. Florida Panthers 27-43-8: The Panthers need to start getting some development from their younger players. Their prospects have been instrumental in helping their teams advance in the CHL. MacKenize Weegar had two goals and six assists in four games with QMJHL. Pressing question: Should Dale Talon be in charge?
27. Vancouver Canucks 34-32-11: The Canucks are still fighting through this season despite their slim playoff hopes. Captain Henrik Sedin returned to the lineup on Saturday after missing four games with a knee injury. Eddie Lack has made 18 consecutive starts after the Olympics. There is A LOT to be done in Vancouver this offseason. Pressing question: WHOLE SALE Changes?
26: New York Islanders 31-35-11: The Islanders had recalled Scott Mayfield this week. Mayfield has 17 points in 69 games in the AHL this season. Mayfield was a second round pick in the 2011 draft. Mayfield made his professional debut in the 2012-13 season. Pressing question: How will Garth Snow mess up this offseason?
