Blackhawks Poll: Who should Jeremy Morin Replace??

The Blackhawks are winding down their regular season schedule. They have two games remaining against the Washington Capitals and Nashville Predators.  Once the playoffs begin Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews will be returning to the lineup. With those two stars returning to the lineup, the question facing the Blackhawks: Who is not in the Lineup?

In my mind Jeremy Morin has solidified a roster spot with his recent play. In the last four games, he has three goals and two assists. Morin brings energy, toughness, and skill to the third line. Morin paired with Peter Regin/ Michal Handzus and Bryan Bickell has proved to be a productive line. Morin also has size, he is listed at 6’1 and 192lbs. In March Morin won player CCM/AHL player of the month . Morin has continued his recent AHL success over to the NHL level.  Coach Quenneville would be INSANE to not have Morin on the roster.

With the assumption that Morin is in, who is out? With the Teuvo Teravainen being sent to Rockford, the likely candidates are Brandon Bollig and Kris Versteeg. In my mind Bollig should not be left off the roster for Morin. Bollig has a good season for his role on the team. Bollig has changed his game from just being an enforcer to an enforcer with some scoring potential. Bollig has set career highs in goals and assists with 7 apiece this season.  Bollig also set a career high in penalty minutes. Another reason for Bollig to remain on the Blackhawks is chemistry. With the “third” line not finding any rhythm all season long, Coach Quenneville has relied heavily on the Ben Smith, Marcus Kruger, and Brandon Bollig line. The Blackhawks have been very hesitant about disrupting their most consistent line.

The player that should lose their spot in my mind is Kris Versteeg. Versteeg in my mind has been a bust for the Blackhawks this season. Versteeg does not win puck battles in the corners; he passes first and does not shoot. When he gets chances to shoot, he does not convert. Versteeg is having his WORST season statically. He has 12 goals and 24 assists with a zero rating. He is averaging .046 pts per game. For his career Versteeg is a .056 pts per game player. The number reinforce my arguement against Versteeg.

Versteeg should be the player losing his roster spot to Jeremy Morin.  Time will tell if I am correct in my predictions, however, I will pose the question to you:
