The Chicago Blackhawks won’t be entering the Stanley Cup playoffs as the odds on favorite to win the Stanley Cup.  No worries not that Las Vegas matters anyways, but the Hawks weren’t the favorite heading into the 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs either it was NBC’s favorite team the Pittsburgh Penguins even though the Blackhawks had started the season with their incredible streak and ended the season with the President’s Trophy.

Here is a look at the 2013 Betting odds:

Pittsburgh Penguins 7/2
Chicago Blackhawks 15/4
Boston Bruins 17/2
Anaheim Ducks 12/1
Montreal Canadiens 12/1
Los Angeles Kings 14/1
St. Louis Blues 14/1
Vancouver Canucks 14/1
San Jose Sharks 16/1
Washington Capitals 16/1
New York Rangers 18/1
Toronto Maple Leafs 20/1
Minnesota Wild 22/1
Detroit Red Wings 28/1

Now it’s flashforward time to the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs and the Hawks had a solid season but ended up a few points out of the #1 seed in the West and the Central Division race.  They of course wouldn’t the be the top betting choice but they do get all their weapons back for Thursday night!! The odds on favorite is the team the Hawks beat in 6 games to win the Cup last season the Boston Bruins.  Here are this years odds heading into the playoffs.

Boston Bruins 7/2
St. Louis Blues 6/1
Pittsburgh Penguins 7/1
Chicago Blackhawks 8/1
Anaheim Ducks 9/1
San Jose Sharks 9/1
Los Angeles Kings 10/1
Colorado Avalanche 14/1
Detroit Red Wings 20/1
Montreal Canadiens 20/1
New York Rangers 20/1
Philadelphia Flyers 20/1
Tampa Bay Lightning 25/1
Minnesota Wild 40/1
Columbus Blue Jackets 50/1
Dallas Stars 50/1

As you can see the Hawks odds are pretty high but Pittsburgh is again above them so that is a good sign! Of course you can throw all these odds out once the pucks hit the ice unless you made it to Vegas in time!!

What do you think of the betting odds and do you put any thought into what they have to say?
