After an entire work week off the Blackhawks get back to the task at hand in their Stanley Cup Playoffs march. This time they face the Minnesota Wild in the 2nd round of the playoffs with the Hawks getting home ice advantage. The Hawks were suppose to play the Av’s, but the Wild didn’t let the script get in the way of a shocking Game #7 overtime winner in Denver. The Blackhawks cannot take the Wild lightly as they should a lot of resolve being down 3-2 and not folding up and heading to the links.
The Blackhawks since the Toews/Kane era began are 6-3 in Game #1’s at the United Center, but they have won their last 5 opening games at the UC. The Hawks will be looking forward to defending home ice and shooting for a short series instead of a 7 game slug fest like last year’s Conference Semi-finals ended up being against the Detroit Red Wings when the Hawks lost Game #2. Game #1 is tonight and here is the listings for the opening act.
