The Blackhawks have officially announced that Andrew Shaw is out for today’s game.  Shaw was injured in the first period of Friday night’s game 1 victory. The injury is being called a “lower body injury”. Despite missing today’s game, Coach Quenneville stated that Shaw’s injury is a short term one.

Shaw was slammed into the boards by Wild Defenseman Clayton Stoner at 10:34 of the first period of Game 1. Shaw fell to the ice and was seen yelling in pain. He limped off the ice and went straight to the locker room.  Shaw did not return to Game 1. Shaw has two goals and two assists in seven playoff games. He has averaged 15:54 minutes of ice time these playoffs.

The Shaw injury is the first injury sustained by the Blackhawks these Playoffs. The Blackhawks have not announced who will fill Shaw’s roster spot. The Blackhawks will take on the Wild at 2pm on NBC on the West Side.
