Paging Showtime: Hawks Need Kane to Show Up

Patrick Kane went full “Showtime” in Game 1 in the series against the Minnesota Wild. The Wild tied the game up at 2 in the 3rd period. Kane was having none of it. He scored an amazing top shelf goal from a near impossible angle after making an incredible move to get past the Wild defense. During his celebration he yelled, “showtime”! He added another goal and then Blackhawks went on to win that game. They also won Game 2, but Games 3 and 4 were different stories. The Blackhawks were held scoreless in Game 3, and in Game 4, they spent most of the 3rd period in their own defensive zone while they were down on the scoreboard. They almost seemed lifeless.

Patrick Kane sparks this team. Every time he touches the puck, it lifts the whole team. Kane needs to score some more goals in the next few games so the Hawks can close this series out. Right now the series is tied going back to Chicago. In order to pull out ahead, Kane needs to score or at least have the puck on his stick so he can make plays.

Kane won the Conn Smythe trophy last year which proves that he is a playoff performer. The Blackhawks have the talent to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions, but they can’t play lethargic and like they don’t care. I know that many players are tired, but I feel like Kane and Patrick Sharp could both play better than they are. Bryan Bickell has not been seen since Game 2 either, but when he comes on, the Hawks are automatically better in the playoffs.

Kane’s presence on the ice and his scoring ability can lift this whole team past the Wild and on to the Stanley Cup, but it needs to happen sooner rather than later.
