Mark Messier Leadership Award (Leader)

Created: 2007

Voted by: Mark Messier and himself

Given to: the player who exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team, on and off the ice, during the regular season

2014 In the running: Dustin Brown – Los Angeles Kings, Ryan Getzlaf – Anaheim Ducks, Jonathan Toews – Chicago Blackhawks

Favorite: Jonathan Toews isn’t called ‘Captain Serious’ for nothing, he says and does all the right things on and off the ice for his teammates and fans year after year after year.

General Manager of the Year

Created: 2010

Voted by: the 30 club general managers, a panel of NHL executives, and print/broadcast media at the conclusion of the regular season

Given to: the top National Hockey League General Manager

2014 In the running: Marc Bergevin – Montreal Canadiens, Dean Lombardi – Los Angeles, Bob Murray – Anaheim

Favorite: Dean Lombardi may be everyone’s first thought because of the Stanley Cup win but this does not include the playoffs so the Ducks great season efforts may be the better reason to select GM Bob Murry.

Hopefully the Blackhawks can add a little more hardware to their collection but we all know what they really want. We will have to wait until next year. 107 more days! Let’s Go Hawks!!!
