Duncan Keith added some more hardware tonight in Las Vegas as he is your 2014 Norris Trophy Winner for the NHL’s Top defenseman. Duncan Keith was on a torrid pace for most of the season and ended up tying his career high with 55 assists on the season, ironically the other season he hit 55 assists was his first Norris Trophy season of 2010. Keith had to beat out Zdeno Chara and Shea Weber to win his 2nd Norris which he also won after the 2010 season.
Keith was fourth on the Blackhawks in points with 6 goals and 55 assists while logging the most ice time like he does year in and year out for the Blackhawks. Keith was a +22 for the season with 56.6% Corsi. Keith usually doesn’t get the toughest line but he’s out there a lot that he sees all the lines on a nightly basis and although he slumped a bit after his last Norris his play was extremely solid this year.
Keith is putting together a Hall of Fame resume and this second Norris will only help his case when he finally puts up his skates for the last time which is hopefully way down the line. Keith 686 games under his belt with 65 goals and 305 assists with 2 Stanley Cups and after tonight 2 Norris Trophies!
Congrats to Duncan Keith!
