The Chicago Blackhawks have begun initial talks with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Both Kane and Toews appear to have made their initial offers to the Blackhawks.

TSN Hockey Bob McKenzie believes that both Kane and Toews have asked for salaries in the 12 million dollar range. That would make them two of the highest paid players in the NHL. McKenzie speculates that Kane and Toews could take salaries closer to 10 million per year. Both Kane and Toews each have one year remaining on their five year 31.5 million dollar extensions. Those extensions were signed in 2010-11. With salary cap expected to rise over the next few years expect salaries for top players to rise.

Toews last seasons recorded 28 goals and 40 assists in 76 regular season games. In the playoffs Toews had nine goals and 17 points in 19 playoff games.

In 69 regular season games Kane registered 29 goals and 40 assists. Kane added 8 goals and 20 points in 19 playoff games.

Both Kane and Toews have played their entire careers with the Blackhawks. Are Kane and Toews who have been Stars for the Blackhawks worth 12 million per year.  The question is posed to you.
