After two days and two trades the 2014 Chicago Blackhawks draft class is complete.  Here is a look at the selections that Stan Bowman made this past weekend in Philadelphia.

Round 1 Pick #20- Nick Schmaltz-Forward- USHL-Green Bay Regarded as one of the most offensively talented players in the draft but known to take shifts off (Don’t hang around Bryan Bickell) Could be a boom or bust selection. Will be playing at North Dakota next year.

Round 3 Pick #83 – Matheson Iacopelli- Forward USHL-Muskegon At 6’2 he’s a big body forward that the Blackhawks lack in the system.  He has good hands and good against the boards will be heading to Western Michigan next year.

Round 3 Pick #88- Beau Starrett- Forward- USPHL Like the pick before him Starrett is big at 6’5″ with some scoring ability having scored 11 goals and collected 47 points last season while picking up 94 penalty minutes.  You have to like his cockiness saying he’s a highly skilled forward.

Round 4 Pick #98 Fredrik Olofsson LW- A 6’1″ forward that pictures himself as Joe Thornton type player.

Round 5 Pick #141 Luc Snuggerud 5’11” Defenseman that will be heading to Nebraska-Omaha to play college hockey.

Round 5 Pick #148 Andreas Soderberg Defense- A 6’4″ Defenseman from Sweden. He’s 18 and from Sweden which seems right up Stan’s alley in drafting Defenseman prospects.

Round 6 Pick #178 Dylan Sikura C OJHL The 5″11′ Center scored 11 goals and 37 assists last season.

Round 6 Pick #179 Ivan Nailmov Goalie 6’5′ Russian Goalie. The Blackhawks weakness in the system is at the goalie position but this is more of a reach and hope selection.

Round 7 Pick #208 Jack Ramsey Jack’s dad Mike was on the 1980 Miracle on Ice Team

There you have it the 2014 Blackhawks draft class! Stan has done a good job in the past at the draft hopefully we can find an Andrew Shaw out of this group!
