We’re heading into the dog days of the offseason, counting the days until the Chicago Blackhawks 2014 season kicks off. We’re going to do a Top 100 list of the all time Chicago Blackhawks. It’s a fun way to pass the time and take a stroll down memory lane.
Ron Murphy Career Blackhawks Statistics 1957-1964
Power Play Goals-5
Stanley Cups- 1 (1961 Stanley Cup)
Murphy played 18 seasons in the NHL, but his only Stanley Cup came with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1961 with Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and the boys. Murphy did have a game winning goal in the march to the 1961 Cup. Although he only spent half of his career with the Blackhawks his point total is still #46 all-time in Chicago Blackhawks history which shows that even though he’s not a household name from those teams back in the early 60’s he was still vital to their success.
Murphy’s best seasons though were with none other that Phil Esposito in Boston, but he never was a part of a Cup team like he was with the Blackhawks. You would have thought with just 6 teams that it would have been easy to win Cups back then but when you dig into it it was really tough!
What do you think of Murphy on our Top 100? Too High, Too Low or Shouldn’t have made the final cut? Keep checking back each day for our Top 100!
