Welcome to the dog days of summer, with the USA out of the World Cup and not too much to get excited about on the baseball field.  We take a quick look at a hockey Youtube video, the top 10 fights of the last 5 years during the Blackhawks season. One thing I want to point out is that I’m totally against is the talk of having

Brandon Mashinter

in the lineup for the Blackhawks in a “

Brandon Bollig

role” . Here is the video.

Here some things I noticed about the top 10 list.  First of all there is no Brandon Bollig which makes you really believe on a team built on possession and speed there is no need to fill this position. Secondly Andrew Shaw doesn’t fight a lot but when he does it is very entertaining to watch with way more action than a heavyweight battle.

On Another note, they really like John Scott and really he serves no purpose in the NHL than to fight which makes his recent signing with the San Jose Sharks a team built very similar to the Blackhawks a real head scratcher.

Lastly, growing up listening to Pat Foley on the radio in 80’s when all home games were radio only, Foley really is great at calling fights and could really have been an HBO fight announcer with Jim Lampley.

Yes, fighting isn’t PC but it’s a fabric of hockey and although it seems like they are trying to get rid of enforcers the likes of John Scott’s still get contracts.
