Dave Manson was basically an enforcer with some skill and when you look up the all-time Hawks records for penalty minutes he’s right there at the #4 spot while spending only parts of 7 seasons in Chicago.
This morning we looked at some recent fights, but in the late 80’s there were fights on a nightly basis and Manson was one of the Hawks that was expected to be up to the task on a nightly basis and here is one example against
Tie DomiManson played in over 1,100 games in his career with over 2,700 penalty minutes which ranks him 13th all-time one spot below another Blackhawks legend Chris Chelios. In a day and era where the enforcer is being eliminated or signed by the likes of the San Jose Sharks, Manson had some talent besides throwing punches but he knew his role and in the end did it pretty well. On a day looking at fights and dog days he fits right in at #95 in our ranking.
What do you remember about Manson? Is #95 too high, too low, or shouldn’t be included in the Top 100?
