10. Vancouver Canucks:
Significant Additions: Ryan Miller, Radim Vrbata
The Canucks made most of their changes via trade. Despite making several trades around the draft, they still signed Ryan Miller and Radim Vrbata. People question whether Miller is an upgrade over Eddie Lack.
9. Edmonton Oliers:
The Oilers have been bad for a really long time, so they decided to throw around a ton of money in free agency. The Oilers moves are risky but the Oilers had to do something.
8. Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Penguins got a good player in Ehrhoff and other quality pieces. They lost some depth players but the losses of Niskanen and Jokinen might hurt the most. Niskanen leaves a hole on their blue line. Orpik leaving is a good thing for the Penguins.
7. New York Islanders:
Significant Additions: Mikhail Grabovski, Nikolai Kuleman, Chad Johnson, T.J. Brennan, Jack Skille.
The additions of Grabovski and Kuleman are huge for the Islanders! They add to more pieces to their forward core and the Islanders could be a force to be reckoned with. The addition of Chad Johnson paired with Jaroslav Halak improves their goal tending situation.
6. Minnesota Wild:
Significant Additions: Thomas Vanek
Vanek joins fellow Minnesota boys Ryan Suter and Zach Parise with the Wild. Vanek will give the Wild more offensive punch. They are going to need more offense with the other additions made in the central division. Vanek also makes up for the loss for Clayton Stoner.
