Hashtag Monday: Free Agency and Salary Cap Blues
In last week’s edition of Hashtag Monday, we asked:
Tomorrow is 7/1 - lots of moves likely to take place. What big personnel changes do you see taking place this week? #BlackhawksFreeAgency

– and –
Free agency starts tomorrow and there's no money left #SalaryCapBlues

Here were just a few of the responses we received on Twitter:
@Blackhawk_Up Not a bad thing considering all the stupid decisions GMs make on day 1 of free agency.

I have to say, I’m inclined to agree with Twitter user “Gman” – not to say that Stan Bowman has a tendency to make crazy or hasty trades, but it avoids the temptation of an itchy trigger finger. Especially when you consider the mind-boggling contracts that some players netted last week! Then again, that doesn’t quite solve the present problem of the salary cap and as-yet-unsigned contracts with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, which were slotted to be signed last week but are now unlikely to be finalized until sometime this week. It will be interesting to see what kind of magic Bowman and crew can pull off to get the signing done AND meet the cap, while not having to do wreck too much havoc on the Hawks core. For next week, we at Blackhawk Up want to know…
Happy Monday Hawk fans! What is your #FirstBlackhawksMemory? #HashtagMonday
