Doug Gilmour Days Until The Blackhawks Season Opener

By Keith Schultz

We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Faceoff series last season that we decided to do it again.  In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Blackhawks  October 9th season opener against the Dallas Stars.

We are now down to 93 days left until another Chicago Blackhawks season kicks off and our favorite players are back on the ice! Today on our countdown we look at the only Blackhawk to wear #93 while playing for the Blackhawks.

Doug Gilmour is a Hall of Famer and is 18th All-time in the NHL on the points leaderboard.  Gilmour played in 1,474 games during his NHL career, but he played for Chicago in the middle of that career for a grand total of 135 games. Here are his career stats while wearing a Blackhawks uniform.

Doug Gilmour’s Blackhawks career

Assists– 74

Penalty Minutes-107

Game Winning Goals-7

Gilmour played on two of the worst teams in recent history and even though everyone throws out the +/- stat but it is really telling that Gilmour was a -28 while in Chicago, but for his career was a + 132.  Times were tough when Gilmour was in Chicago, but he did hoist the Cup with the Calgary Flames in 1989.

Be on the lookout for our Countdown to Faceoff series as we continue to work our way to the season opener on October 9th. We’re 93 days from the season opener.  Is it October yet???
