Eric Weinrich played over 1,100 games in the NHL with some of his best seasons coming in a Blackhawks jersey. He came the closest to the Stanley Cup Finals with the Blackhawks in their 1995 run to the Conference Finals. There of course is reasons to dislike Weinrich because he was part of the trade that sent Steve Larmer to the Hartford Whalers before he ended up with the New York Rangers.
Weinrich was a solid defenseman which always makes it hard to rank in all-time lists since they are hard to rank because of their lack of offensive numbers but during his 7 seasons in Chicago he still ranks 111th in franchise history on the points rankings and is tied with Brandon Saad at #31 in the +/- category in franchise history with a career +37.
Weinrich would be traded to the Montreal Canadiens and escape the true dark ages of Chicago Blackhawks hockey, but today he ends up at #92 on our Top 100 countdown.
What do you think? Too High Too Low or Shouldn’t be in the countdown.
