5. Chicago Blackhawks:

Significant Additions: Brad Richards, Peter Regin

After the Kings won the Stanley Cup, the odds for next season’s champion came out. The Blackhawks are the favorite to win the Stanley Cup this season. With the addition of Brad Richards and subtraction of Brandon Bollig the Blackhawks should be much improved this season.

4. Pittsburgh Penguins:

Significant Additions: Christian Ehrhoff, Thomas Greiss, Blake Comeau, Steve Downie

The Penguins got a good player in Ehrhoff and other quality pieces this offseason. The health of Sidney Crosby is a concern for the Penguins but the subtraction of Brooks Orpik will benefit them. The Penguins will be at the top of the Eastern Conference once again.

3. Montreal Canadiens:

Significant Additions: Tom Gilbert, P-A Parenteau, Manny Malhorta, Jiri Sekac

Gilbert is the steal of free agency. The Candiens had a sneaky good offseason and should be very much improved this season. The Canadiens will need another great season from Max Pacioretty.

2. St. Louis Blues:

Significant Additions: Paul Stastny

The Blues added the biggest free agent this offseason. Stastny gives the Blues more center depth and another scoring presence. The Blues do have their issues. Their biggest issue is still their goal tending. Brian Elliot is a goalie that will win you a Stanley Cup.

1. Los Angeles Kings:

Significant Addition: Marian Gaborik, Adam Cracknell

The Kings are champs and will remain that way until somebody defeats them. The Kings have one of the best goalies in the NHL in Jonathan Quick and now they have a sniper in Marian Gaborik. It will be hard for the Kings to repeat but if anyone can do it’s the Kings.
