If you answered 1948 you are correct! On November 3, 1948 Chicago hosted its first All-Star game in Chicago Stadium as the All-Stars defeated Toronto 3-1. During this era of hockey with fewer amount of teams in the league, the All-Star game called for the defending Stanley Cup Champions to play against a selection of players from the other five teams. This was only the second annual NHL All-Star game to take place in history. Although the All-Star Game called for the defending Cup champion to host it, the game was held in Chicago Stadium as a consequence of the negotiations that set up the first game.
