We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Faceoff series last season that we decided to do it again. In case you’re new to the series, we’ll do a roster preview as we count down the days until the Chicago Blackhawks October 9th season opener against the Dallas Stars.

Tonelli was signed as a free agent before the 1991-1992 season and he didn’t make it to the trade deadline as the Hawks sent him to the Quebec Nordiques for future considerations. Tonelli would only play 19 more games in his career for Quebec before he hung up his skates for good. Tonelli was part of the New York Islanders dynasty that won four straight Stanley Cups in the early 80’s.

Tonelli made two all-star games and was a champion, but when he arrived in Chicago he didn’t even get to stick around for the Hawks ride to the Stanley Cup Finals with Jeremy Roenick, Chris Chelios, Eddie Belfour, Dirk Graham and that great crew.
Be on the lookout for our Countdown to Faceoff series as we continue to work our way to the season opener on October 9th. We’re 72 days from the season opener. Is it October yet???
