It is that time of the week again where we spotlight a throwback player from the Chicago Blackhawks past. This week’s selection for Throwback Thursday is Blackhawks favorite Jeremy Roenick. I hope this may bring back some of those special memories of his playing time with the Chicago Blackhawks.

More from All Time Blackhawks

Jeremy Roenick was already rising in the ranks of the hockey world before enrolling in Thayer Academy and continued to excel there. He was so impressive during his time at Thayer Academy that the Chicago Blackhawks noticed him and decided to draft him straight from the high school playing level. They did so during the 1988 NHL Entry Draft with the 8th pick overall in the 1st round. Before joining the Chicago Blackhawks Jeremy Roenick found himself playing in major junior ice hockey for the Hull Olympiques, a QMJHL team that Wayne Gretzky owned. Wayne Gretzky had previously recruited Jeremy Roenick to play for his team during a breakfast meeting.
