Darcy Rota came into the NHL known as a scorer, and he didn’t disappoint when he was thrown on a line with Stan Mikita and Cliff Koroll by legendary coach Billy Reay.  Rota averaged 20 goals for his Blackhawks career and he was teamed with some All-time greats on lines with the likes Mikita, Chico Maki and Grant Mulvey.

Rota didn’t have much success like the rest of the Blackhawks franchise in the playoffs during the 70’s with his rookie season being the only time he reached the Stanley Cup Finals  during his Blackhawks tenure.

Rota started slowing down in the scoring area and was in a huge trade that saw the Blackhawks acquire Tom Lysiak from the Atlanta Flames. Rota would end up in Vancouver after a season in Atlanta and would come back to haunt the Blackhawks in the 1982 Conference Finals scoring a huge goal in the elimination game that sent the Canucks to the Finals (which they lost to the New York Islanders) and the Hawks to the golf course.

More from Blackhawks News

Rota was a good scorer that still ranks 50th in points in Blackhawks history. A skillful player that played great with the Hawks All-time greats.

Do you have any Rota memories? What do you think, Too high or Too Low?
