5. The St. Louis BluesBrian Elliott/Jake Allen: Last season the Blues thought they needed an elite goalie to put them over the edge; they traded for Ryan Miller. Miller was awful for the Blues and ultimately ran out of town. Now the Blues are going to go with Elliot as their starter. Elliot has spent three seasons with the Blues going 55-24 with a .927 save percentage and 1.86 goals against average. Elliot will finally be the number one guy in St. Louis.

Elliot’s backup will be Jake Allen. Allen is a top prospect of the Blues. He spent three seasons with their AHL team the Peoria Riverman; he was 51-58 with a .913 save percentage and 2.76 goals against average. Last season Allen made his NHL debut, he appeared in 15 games going 9-4 with a .905 save percentage and 2.46 goals against average. The Blues are hoping that Allen will be their goalie of the future.

Elliot will be their guy this season while Allen hopefully is the future.
