1.The Colorado AvalancheSemyon Varlamov/Reto Berra: Varlamov benefited greatly from his new coach in Patrick Roy. Varlamov lead the NHL with 41 wins last season. This was one year removed from leading the NHL in losses with 21. Last season he went 41-14 with a .927 save percentage and 2.41 goals against average. If the Avs want to go deep in the playoffs, Varlamov needs to step up his game in the playoffs. Last season he went 3-4 with a .913 save percentage and 2.78 goals against average.

Berra made his NHL debut last season. Berra began the year with the Calgary Flames and finished with the Avalanche. Berra last season went 9-18 with a .893 save percentage with 3.07 goals against average. Berra will need to fill the backup role this season.

Can the Varlamov repeat his dominate performance again this year??
