The calendar has finally turned to September and so it’s time to bring back one of our traditional favorites over/under.  We predict the Blackhawks players stats and you tell us if you think they will go over or under those stats! It’s a fun way to preview the season and we look forward to your comments! Is It October 9th in Dallas yet?

Today we take a look at a young forward on the cusp of a full-time job with the Blackhawks this season, and one that has been a long time coming; Jeremy Morin.

Morin’s name won’t be anything new to Blackhawks’ fans, as the 23-year old has spent parts of the last four seasons with the big club. In 2013-14, Morin played in 24 games for the ‘Hawks, recording 5 goals and 11 points in that span. Morin bounced between the Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs 6 times, and couldn’t seem to catch the eye of Joel Quenneville enough to earn a full-time position, much to the disappointment of ‘Hawks fans.

With the departure of  Brandon Bollig, there is a roster spot on the Blackhawks that nearly has Morin’s name written on it. However, it will be a battle between Morin and some of his IceHogs teammates (Brandon Mashinter) for the spot at training camp.

Morin had a .46% points-per-game percentage last season, putting him 11th on the Blackhawks, despite ranking 28th in Time On Ice/game, with an average of 9:09. With a secure spot in the Blackhawks’ bottom six, there isn’t any reason why Morin can’t be as good, or better, than he was in his brief stints with the ‘Hawks last season.

2014-2015 over/under- We have high expectations for Morin this season, and we are setting his over-under at 35 points, with 11 goals and 14 assists.

The critical factor for Morin this season will be his ice-time. He can play at the NHL level, but if Quenneville doesn’t see eye-to-eye with the young winger, he may be doing so with another team.
