We had so much fun doing our Countdown to Faceoff series last season that we decided to do it again. The calendar has turned into September ,we look at jersey numbers from past and present as we count down the days until October 9th and opening night against the Dallas Stars.

We are three-quarters of the way home to the Blackhawks season opener and we find ourselves at a player that most Blackhawks fans don’t miss, but there were times when Stalberg’s pure speed was missed last season and in the end the Blackhawks didn’t hoist the Stanley Cup after year one post Viktor Stalberg.

Stalberg didn’t exactly light it up in Nashville scoring 8 goals 10 assists and a stellar -14 while playing 70 games with the Predators and missing the playoffs. Stalberg will be entering his 2nd season of his 4 year 12,000,000 contract.

Stalberg’s best season so far was in 2011-2012 when he scored 22 goals and 21 assists it also included dominating the Columbus Blue Jackets and a hat trick thrown in for good measure.

There have been quite a few other #25’s in Blackhawks history so here is a quick look at them including the name that got Nick Leddy to Chicago!

1. Dan Hinton-1977 Hinton played in 14 NHL games all with Chicago and the only stat he has to show for his efforts is a -5 rating.

11. Cam Barker-2006-2010 One of the few #3 picks overall that hasn’t worked out in Chicago sports history. The best part of Barker is that he was traded for Nick Leddy. During his Blackhawks 200 game career, Barker scored 17 goals and 63 assists.
