Good morning Blackhawks fans! If you have been on Twitter this morning there is an interesting name on the training camp invites and no it’s not Kris Versteeg is still on there.  The name you will hear the most of today and tomorrow and through the weekend is that the Blackhawks have invited Cam Barker to training camp.

Cam Barker is one of the few #3 overall picks in Chicago history that hasn’t turned out great (see Michael Jordan, Jonathan Toews, Denis Savard) except for the fact that the Blackhawks were able to ship him to the Minnesota Wild for Nick Leddy who has turned out to be a pretty good defensman and a Stanley Cup Champion. Barker played in the KHL last season and will be more than likely using this invite as a springboard to get another NHL contract with another team.

In all there are 52 camp invites who will be battling for spots in Chicago, showing off their skills for scouts, and looking for more playing time in Rockford!  Summer is almost completely over and fall weather is here and Blackhawks hockey is about to hit the ice in South Bend. It all starts tomorrow!!!
