2. Adam Clendening

The Buffalo-area native is the top Blackhawk defenseman to watch for during the preseason, as he has the best opportunity to crack the Blackhawks’ opening-day roster on the blue-line. After leading the Rockford IceHogs in scoring last season, as a defenseman, Clendening has proved that his time on the farm has paid off, and he has certainly earned himself some games with the Indian Head on his chest. If the Blackhawks’ salary cap-saving move comes from the blue-line, look for Clendening to be the one to fill the void, if his pre-season performance lives up to his hype.

1. Teuvo Teravainen

Although many thought the Blackhawks’ top prospect was going to join the team full-time last season when he came overseas in the spring, most people have accepted that the 2014-15 season will not be ‘Teuvo Time’, after the off-season signing of Brad Richards. With the Blackhawks’ top-six all but decided, look for Teravainen to mix things up with a standout pre-season performance, possibly alongside Andrew Shaw on the third line, as Joel Quenneville aims to develop chemistry between Richards and Patrick Kane on the second line. Teravainen certainly has a shot at the Blackhawks’ opening day roster, and although fans may have to wait for another prospect to make their debut in his place, the preseason will be the deciding factor.
