This summer we had some fun and Blackhawk Up counted down the days until the Chicago Blackhawks suited up once again. Well now the time has come and yesterday officially kicked-off the start of the 2014-2015 Regular Season. The Blackhawks will be playing their first game of the season tonight at 8:30PM ET when they visit the Dallas Stars in the American Airlines Center. Before the game I thought it would be a good idea to put together 5 players to watch, not just on the Blackhawks but between the two teams. A few of the players were part of free agent signings and trades during the off-season so these essentially could be the 5 players to watch not only tonight but also throughout the season.

Jonathan Toews

It seems that when the Captain is out on the ice scoring and chipping in with an assist or two the rest of the team clicks. Jonathan Toews provides a substantial spark to this Chicago Blackhawks team and he is the most respected player on the team. Not only does he play the puck well offensively, he is consistent on the defensive side of the puck too and he has both won and been the finalist for the Selke Trophy consistently for several years now. Keep an eye on Toews to take his game to an even higher level this year, he definitely is not one to forget about the previous seasons outcome and use that to advance his play. He will be reminding everyone also as the Captain that everyone needs to step their game up if they want to have a shot in the Central Division that is full of talented teams that are only going to get better.
