The Blackhawks have kicked off the 2014-2015 season and there has been one glaring spot of weakness  in the Blackhawks defense and it’s not rookie Trevor Van Riemsdyck.  David Runblad has been so bad in the first two games he’s picked up the name RunBAD on Twitter already.

This is of course Stan Bowman’s fault not Joel Quennville’s. Bowman for some reason has always like Rundblad, and he finally traded for the player at the trade deadline last year.  Rundblad didn’t sniff the ice last season, and due to the Nick Leddy trade and Michal Rozsival injury has been pressed into service.

Rundblad barely saw the ice on opening night with Duncan Keith playing nearly 30 minutes, but he was on the ice quite a bit on Saturday night against the Buffalo Sabres and well it was less than impressive.

Rundblad was in the wrong place for a Duncan Keith pass and it created a scoring chance, and he totally misplayed a puck later in the game that created a breakaway for the Sabres but Corey Crawford was up to the task to stop the breakaway and bail out Rundblad

The argument is that Rundblad has all the skill in the world and just needs some work on the ice to get comfortable, but with this being his fourth team in four seasons it may say something more to just needing ice time because his play on the ice has been ugly!

The Blackhawks have a bunch of prospects ready for the NHL in Rockford and well after a small sample size Rundblad looks more Rockfordish than a Blackhawk!
