The Chicago Blackhawks improved to 4-0-1 after a Week 2 that saw the team lose their first game of the season after a remarkable effort by the opposing goaltender. Blackhawks’ fans weren’t disappointed for long, however, as Chicago bounced back, winning their last two games of the week, holding down second place in the NHL’s Central Division.
Third Star: Antti Raanta
Raanta got the call for his first start of the season on Tuesday night, after Corey Crawford went down with an injury in the days before the game. Raanta made no mistake, literally, walking away with not only his first win of the season, but his first shutout as well. Raanta wasn’t tested often by the Philadelphia Flyers, but when he was he rose to the occasion with a big save, and worked well with the Blackhawks’ defense controlling the puck and starting the rush the other way. With Crawford listed as day-to-day, the Blackhawks may have to call upon Raanta again in the near future, but if his last game was any indication, he’ll be more than ready.
