Crawford to Miss Wednesday Road Game vs Preds

Blackhawks #1 Goalie Corey Crawford has been sidelined with an upper-body injury that he sustained sometime early this week. Although it was not announced until shortly before last night’s home game against the Philadelphia Flyers, backup goalie Antti Raanta stood in for the injured Crawford and dominated in net, logging just the second shutout of his NHL career, after not having played a regular-season game since April.

Raanta is going to have to strap on the pads once again when the Blackhawks face the Nashville Predators on the road tomorrow night, as Crawford is still injured and will not be making the trip. It’s unknown when he will return, as his condition is listed as day-to-day.

Scott Darling, a Chicago-area native (Lemont) and current IceHogs goalie, was called up from Rockford yesterday afternoon to serve as Raanta’s backup and will likely continue to do so while Crawford is out.
