The Blackhawks took on the Winnipeg Jets late at the United Center and it looked liked the Hawks didn’t ever adjust to the time change, and if you missed the first 20 seconds of the game you missed it all.  Here is the recap of the game.

1st Period

Michael Frolik made a nice move in the slot on the first shift of the game and put the puck past Corey Crawford for the first goal of the game 2o seconds into the contest.  The Hawks looked very uninterested for most of the period with another round of line blender lines.  Joel Quenneville hasn’t seemed to have started the same lines yet and it’s the 12th game of the season.  The Hawks took to boarding penalties which is pretty strange for them but the penalty kill has been very stellar and kept the game a one goal game.

One thing that is strange that on back to back games in the first period that Q was double shifting Patrick Sharp while Jeremy Morin was on the ice for 1:11.  I guess Quenneville is frustrated and doing some strange things instead of just rolling four lines.  A rare period for the Hawks getting out shot 10-9 in the first period.

2nd Period

The Blackhawks will never be a physical team, but they have turned into a huge finesse team and the for most of the 2nd period they look great for possession numbers but no one was driving the net or putting a body in front of the Jets net and that is why they are getting so many shots on net but no goals.  They are also running a bit unlucky with Jonathan Toews ringing the post and every good chance seems to involve a rolling puck.  The Hawks are fighting it, but they also will fight through it too, but after 2 periods it was still 2-0.

3rd Period

The Hawks went in full offensive mode with defenseman pinching, but they never could get one in the back of the net and for the second straight game at the United Center the Blackhawks were shut out and they have gone 95:42 without a goal.

-The offense is missing a presence in front of the net

-Rundblad didn’t look to bad most of the night.

-TVR still looks solid and a small bright spot on the season.

-This really was a boring game to watch.

-Back at it Tuesday Night!!!
