The Blackhawks’ big off-season signing hadn’t done much to earn his $2 million salary up until this point, and had ‘Hawks fans wondering if he was going to be a ‘bust’. Those fans can rest assured, however, after a great week for #91. Richards kicked off the week with an assist in the Blackhawks’ loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he had 16:06 in Time On Ice, one of his season’s highest totals. After the Blackhawks were shutout against Winnipeg, Richards chipped in an assist in the big win over the Canadiens on Tuesday night, finishing with two points, and three in his last four games. Like Bickell, Richards looked much more comfortable on the ice in Week 4, especially on Tuesday night when Patrick Kane left his fellow Conn Smythe winner for Jonathan Toews on the top line. Richards needs to find consistency yet, but if this week is any indication, things are looking better for the 34-year old.
