Kris Versteeg has long been the goat of the Blackhawks, usually the first to blame for floundering depth, and sub-par production. With a great week in Week 4, however, that may all be about to change. Versteeg scored the opening and closing goals of the Blackhawks’ 5-0 victory over the Canadiens on Tuesday night, his only points of the week. However, it’s the consistency he showed since the ‘Hawks first game of the week in Toronto that has fans hoping for a sudden turnaround. Versteeg had a team-high five shots on goal in that loss to the Leafs, and was all over the ice, drawing penalties and creating offensive opportunities. As the ‘Hawks had a quiet game on the scoreboard against Winnipeg, Versteeg was one of the teams’ best players, with a week-high 23 shift game. With 5 points in his first 9 games, this version of Kris Versteeg is one all Blackhawks fans could be happy about.
