Congratulations Rockford IceHogs’ Mark McNeill. Definitely a Top Hog, McNeill was named CCM/AHL Player of the Week ending November 9, 2014. The Rockford IceHogs center scored six goals and had a+4 plus/minus in three games.
McNeill began accomplishing this achievement last Tuesday by scoring twice against Lake Erie when the IceHogs were three goals down in the third period, bringing his team to a 5-4 OT win. In Iowa, on Thursday of the dominant week, McNeill scored a game winning power play goal taking the IceHogs to a 5-3 victory. It was Saturday night, at home, that McNeill tallied all of the Rockford’s points with his first career hat trick leading the offense to a 3-1 win over Grand Rapids and making it an eight game winning streak for the IceHogs. The Saturday night victory was also a milestone for Rockford IceHogs head coach Ted Dent. This win was a tiebreaker for first place in team AHL victories.

The Rockford IceHogs have at least five players at the top of the stats chart that could easily wear Chicago Blackhawk sweaters. In addition to Peter Regin being called up I’m waiting for Mark McNeill, Phillip Danault, Joakim Nordstrom and Garret Ross to be considered. Until the calls come in, what a great opportunity to watch them skate at the BMO. As for disappointment, we can only wonder what happened to Teuvo Teravainen.
Again, congratulations Mark McNeill. He will be presented with an etched crystal at an upcoming home game at the BMO Harris Bank Center in honor of this accomplishment.
