The Rockford IceHogs try to top 8-in-a-row and continue their winning streak starting Friday in a contest with the Milwaukee Admirals at home in the BMO Harris Bank Center. The IceHogs top the Midwest Division in the AHL with an 8-1-0-1 record for first place while the Admirals are in third with 7-3-0-0. Continuing the busy weekend ahead of them, the IceHogs will travel to Milwaukee to meet the Admirals again on Saturday for a possible 10 game winning streak and then back to the BMO hosting the Texas Stars to make it 11.
Looking at the history of the IceHogs’ losses to the Admirals, it’s hopeful the winning streak continues through the Texas game. Although Texas is in first place in the West Division at 5-3-2-0, IceHogs vs. Stars came up in favor of the Hogs in both games last 2013-14 season. The past season was not as favorable for the IceHogs against the Admirals. Out of the 10 contests between these two teams, the Admirals prevailed six. The interesting thing here is, out of the four games the IceHogs won, two of them finished in OT. So far this 2014-15 season, the Admirals have not played any OT. If the pattern means anything, and in hockey superstitions it does, IceHogs fans can hope for OT this weekend and conquer the Admirals.
So far this season, October 11, 2014,when Milwaukee visited Rockford they topped the IceHogs with a 3-2 win. This Midwest rivalry is always an exciting match up and this game, with the IceHogs defending their winning streak, is sure not to disappoint. Let’s #goicehogs!!!
