Only 2 games for bragging rights

Once the NHL realignment took effect last year and the Central Division saw the departure of the Detroit Red Wings to the Atlantic Division this meant that the number of games played between the longtime rivals would be cut from 4 to 2 each year. This only fuels the fire between the two teams though because they both know there might not be a chance to get even with the other team down the line. The core players are mostly still intact for each of the teams but they both have some great talent arising from the farm system. This is where you may see Joel Quenneville shaking up the lines a little different to try and gain some advantages on matchups. Everyone that is a true hockey fan of either of these teams could only hope for a final matchup for the Stanley Cup once again.
