The Blackhawks have officially fired up the Rockford to Chicago shuttle bus. Yesterday Stephen Johns was recalled only to be sent back to Rockford today. Today the Blackhawks also announced that they have recalled Joakim Nordstrom and Adam Clendening.

This will be Nordstrom second appearance with the Blackhawks this season. Nordstrom was recalled before Sunday’s game against Dallas and then sent back to Rockford. During his time with Rockford this season, Nordstrom has 5 goals and 3 assists in 14 games. He was named Captain of the Ice Hogs this season. Last season with the Blackhawks Nordstrom appeared in 16 regular season games notching 1 goal and 2 assists. He also appeared in 7 playoff games recording 0 points.

With Nordstrom comes Adam Clendening, Clendening has yet to appear with the Blackhawks in his pro career. He has appeared in 163 games with the Ice hogs and recorded 109 points (22g 87a). This season with the Ice hogs, Clendening has 1 goal and 3 assists. In 2013-14 Clendening was named the Ice hog co-defenseman of the year with Klas Dahlbeck. He was also a first team AHL All-star last year.

Clendening was called up to fill the roster spot left open by the injured Trevor van Riemsdyk. The Blackhawks placed the young defenseman on Long term Injured Reserve today. Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman stated today that TVR will be sidelined more than just a matter of weeks. The speculation is that TVR could be out two to three months. TVR was injured in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Stars. He took a shot off his leg early in the game and did not return.

The Blackhawks next game is Thursday vs. the Calgary Flames in Calgary. The game begins at 8:00pm central time and can be seen on CSN.
