The Chicago Blackhawks Plow Through The Avalanche 3-2.

The Blackhawks rolled into Colorado after a much needed two days off. The Blackhawks had lost to the Canucks 4-1 in their last game. The Blackhawks welcomed back Andrew Shaw to the lineup. Shaw had missed the last three games with an upper body injury. The Avalanche had won their last two games in a row but had struggled overall this season. The Avalanche are currently ranked last in the Central Division. The game was fast and sloppy; the Blackhawks were the better team tonight. Here is the period recap: 1st period: The period was fast and dominated by the Blackhawks. It was fast and sloppy but ended with no score. 2nd period: The second period the Avalanche got on the board first. Maxime Talbot gave the Avalanche the lead midway through the second period. The Blackhawks responded a little past the half way mark in the second period. The captain Jonathan Toews cleaned up a rebound to tie the game for the Blackhawks. It was a power play goal. The Blackhawks welcomed Andrew Shaw back to the lineup tonight. In the second, he drew a penalty by taking the puck hard to the net. Shaw then made the Avalanche pay with a power play goal to put the Blackhawks up to 2-1. The Blackhawks ended the second period up 2-1. 3rd period: The third period began with a flurry of chances from the Avalanche. Corey Crawford did his best to fend off the rush but the Avalanche did eventually break through. Ryan O’Reilly scored the equalizer early in the third period. The Blackhawks would respond late in the third period. Duncan Keith hit Patrick Kane with a difficult pass. Kane somehow managed to control the puck then dangled his way to the net. Kane wrist shot was saved by Pickard but Bryan Bickell was able to clean up the rebound for the game winner. The Avalanche made a late push to try and tie the game but the Blackhawk held firm. The Blackhawks defeated the Avalanche 3-2. Despite the loss Avalanche goalie Calvin Pickard had a very strong game. NEWS and NOTES:

  • Patrick Kane had four assists on the night
  • Andrew Shaw returned from an upper body injury and had an excellent game per Coach Joel Quenneville.
  • Corey Crawford made his 12th straight start.
  • This was the first time the Blackhawks won in Colorado in two years
  • The Blackhawks are 3-1 on the circus.
  • The Blackhawks currently sit in the seventh spot in the Western Conference.
  • The Blackhawks Power Play is ranked 8th in the NHL.
