Happy Thanksgiving, Blackhawks nation! My name is Anthony Orona and I’m excited to be joining the team here at Blackhawk Up.
A little bit about myself…
I was born and raised in Houston, TX but grew up visiting family in Chicago. At a young age, like many sports fans, I became enamored with Michael Jordan. My love for him quickly grew into an appreciation for all Chicago teams (well, except the White Sox…I’m still bitter about 2005). I’ll never forget walking into the Madhouse the first time. I moved to the city in 2005 to work for a non-profit and would receive tickets to Hawks games. By receive, I mean they were literally giving them away. It was the middle of the rebuild and times were tough. As all Hawks fans know, the stadium had a slightly different feel. However, Captain Serious would be drafted that year and Kane the following. As they say, the rest is history.
It’s been an amazing run the last five years and I’m confident we’re not done yet. I’m hopeful this season will bring a 6th Cup to Chicago but if it doesn’t we know Toews, Kane, Keith and the boys will be back ready to go at it again next year.
It’s an honor to be writing for Blackhawk Up and covering the team I love. I hope we all get to enjoy this season’s journey together.
It won’t always be fun, it won’t always be easy, but it’s gonna be an unbelievable ride.
Lets go Hawks!
